The OKOndt GROUP participated in Railway Interchange 2025 in the United States

This event, the largest railroad exhibition in North America, took place in Indianapolis, Indiana, from May 20 to 22. The OKOndt GROUP showcased its state-of-the-art developments and rail inspection equipment, including the OKOSCAN 73HS High-Speed Ultrasonic Testing System. Other solutions presented included the new ETS2-73 double-rail flaw detector for eddy current rail inspection. The popular single-rail UDS2-77 and double-rail UDS2-73 ultrasonic rail flaw detectors were also presented.

Over the course of three days, the OKOndt GROUP booth served as a dynamic hub for dialogue among railroad industry professionals. Together with colleagues from NDT Supply—OKOndt GROUP’s official U.S. distributor—the company’s specialists engaged with exhibition visitors, discussing the capabilities of the OKOSCAN 73HS System and other rail-testing equipment.

Live demonstrations showcased the operation of rail flaw detectors and portable devices for manually inspecting rails and rolling stock components.

The OKOndt GROUP has introduced the ETS2-73 flaw detector to the U.S. market

The ETS2-73 flaw detector is a hand-pushed railway inspection trolley that uses the eddy current method to detect cracks. According to EN 16729-2, the standard for rail nondestructive testing (NDT), this tool can simultaneously test both rails and rail switchers on a railway track.

NDT specialists use the ETS2-73 to detect headchecks, transverse fatigue cracks, spalling on the running surface, and areas where wheels slide. According to the UIC Code 712-R classification from the International Union of Railways (UIC), the detector can also identify additional defects in hardened rail heads. The device helps determine the depth of cracks and assesses the repairability of the rails. It determines the depth of detected cracks and evaluates the repairability of the rail.

UDS2-77 Flaw Detector: Ultrasonic Testing of the Entire Rail Profile

The UDS2-77, a popular single-rail flaw detector, was presented at the Railway Interchange 2025 exhibition.

It is designed for ultrasonic testing of rails and welds, of small sections on railway tracks in operation, and for confirming defects detected by high-speed rail testing Systems. The device is equipped with an immersion wheel that houses all the ultrasonic sensors. According to the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association's (AREMA) requirements, it detects internal defects in rails. Testing the entire rail profile, excluding the foot flanges, is achieved by sounding the rails at various angles. The results of rail scanning are visualized in real time on the device screen (A-Scan, B-Scan, and A-Scan + B-Scan).

High-Speed Rail Testing Equipment: OKOSCAN 73HS System

The OKOSCAN 73HS System is one of OKOndt Group’s key solutions for high-speed ultrasonic rail testing, operating at speeds of up to 40 km/h. The company has successfully implemented projects using this NDT System for rails on railroads in the United States, Turkey, and India, as well as for subway networks in Singapore and Brazil. Each project featured custom-designed equipment tailored to the client’s technical specifications and local standards. Commissioning, personnel training, and ongoing technical support were provided as part of the turnkey solution.

OKOndt GROUP Seminar: Advancing Modern Rail Testing Methods

During the exhibition, OKOndt GROUP specialists hosted a seminar on modern nondestructive rail testing techniques. The discussion centered on current industry challenges, including the need to inspect rails under high-speed traffic conditions without disrupting operations. Seminar attendees exchanged insights and experiences, while OKOndt GROUP specialists fostered professional dialogue and built new business connections.

Results of Participation in the Railway Interchange 2025

OKOndt GROUP successfully took part in the three-day Railway Interchange 2025 exhibition. Our rail inspection equipment attracted significant interest from railroad industry professionals and companies that specialize in rail testing services. As a result of the event, OKOndt GROUP received several requests for delivery of its NDT solutions. We extend our sincere thanks to our partners at NDT Supply for their valuable support at our booth.

The next Railway Interchange exhibition will take place from June 2 to 4, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. OKOndt GROUP looks forward to participating and showcasing its latest nondestructive testing technologies.
